The weather man has been lying to me. Earlier this week, he has told me that it was going to be COLD. I'm talking upper 50's lower 60's (which is cold considering it has been extremely hot these last couple of weeks). So, being the fashionista that I am, decided that I should dress for this supposedly cold weather and break out my fall clothing. Though the morning we're somewhat chilly, as the day continuned to advance, I felt myself getting hotter and hotter. The weather man had lied to me.
Just this past weekend, (including Friday), I was freezing. Thankfully, I had somewhat listened to the weather man, even after all of his lies, and dressed for the coldness. Being the dress lover that I am, decided that I was not going to give up my dress-affection, and wear them no matter what the temperature was. Since sometimes dressing dresses is a challenge, I have encountered some stylish yet simple ways to do this.
Trick No.1: Knee High Boots (without looking promiscuous):
Dress - MANGO
Jacket - River Island
Boots - Tory Burch
By pairing a longer dress, mid-thigh length, with a pair of knee high riding boots, you only have a bit of skin showing. By adding a colored leather jacket into the mix, you allow for a warmer body along with a bit of color. By pairing these boots with your favorite dress, you are able to stay warm without looking like you "get around".
Trick No.2: Long Kimono + Booties
Dress: Free People
Booties: Steve Madden
Kimono: Forever 21
Slip dresses are my year-round go-to dress. They're super comfy as well as super easy to wear. Though most slip dresses are thin and practically strapless, it is sometimes hard to figure out what to wear with them during the colder season. My favorite way to wear this particular slip dress (yes, I own it and I adore it) is to pair it with a kimono with detailing similar to the one on the dress. Though not everyone has this exact same slip dress, if you pair a similar kimono with it, you will have a complete outfit that is fall ready!
Trick No.3: Sweater Layering
Dress: Free People
Socks: Wet Seal
I learned this layering trick from Ootra, and it has become one of my favorites ever since. By layering a chunky sweater over one of your shorter slip dresses, you are able to beat the chilly but still see the pretty bottom of the dress. By adding the same color socks and boots, you have a comfy outfit that is stylish and versitle.
So theres no need to sacrifice your favorite dresses. There are so many ways to layer in order to stay warm. With these 3 simple tricks you're able to create cute outfits that are still comfy and wearable.
