Autumn Fashion Month took us by surprise, not only did March pop out of nowhere but the trends that were shown from all around the world were daring and street-cred worthy. My top three favorite trends included looks that are new, yet still timeless. They incorporate pieces that can be worn in all seasons and during any time of the day and year. This spring and summer, liven up your look with these three go-to trends that you should be recreating now.
SUEDE | BRINGING BACK THE 70's
We've been seeing glimpses of different textures and materials on the runway for a few years now, but the most popular has been suede. From skirts and shoes, to coats and now tops, the new fashion motto is that you can never be wearing too much. This spring, load up on the more wearable pieces; a fringed suede skirt will be your new wardrobe staple. If you're feeling more adventurous, splurge for a matching suede top to go with your skirt, seperates are so in right now.
OFF THE SHOULDER | CRISS-CROSS
The off-the-shoulder look has been around for quite some time. Not only is it in-trend now, but it's the perfect transitional piece from spring to summer. Instead of wearing your typical tank top, the off-the-shoulder jumpsuit, top or even dress will allow you to stay warm for when the wind decides to pick up speeds, but also keep you cool when the temperatures rise. That little bit of skin shown is the perfect way to incorporate summer into your spring wardrobe. Not-to-mention, this style will be timeless, and already is. To add more crisscross to your look, slip on a pair of lace up flats. Not only are these shoes in trend, they also correlate perfectly with the off-shoulder-top.
PLEATS | KNIFE PLEATS, TO BE EXACT
For as long as I can remember, pleats have been seen in stores everywhere. But just recently, they have hit the runways during fashion week. As seen in shows such as Proenza and Boss, pleats are being used on almost every type of garment: skirts, pants, tops and coats; you really can't go wrong. This year, knife pleats -- which are a slimmer and tighter style of pleat -- are in the go-to for designers, creating more movement and interest to the piece. This spring is all about being adventurous in your fashion choices, so rather than wearing the typical pleated skirt, opt for a pleated pant or top and pair it with another trend from this season, a marled knit top.
Which trends will you be recreating? Let me know in the comments below! Did you post a #ootd pic. with inspiration from this post? Tag me in your image on Instagram, @brunettewithabudget, I'd love to see it!
