I have a love/hate relationship with summer.  I hate the temperature because I'm not fan of humidity and I'm also not a fan of the heat.  But I am a fan of having a bit more free time which allows for more photoshoots and a brother who is willing to step in as photographer.

Today's particular shoot was done for a reason: I needed a new image for the cover page of Brunette with a Budget.  If you had been on my site the past two weeks, you would've noticed that instead of a picture, there was a pink square.  Lame, I know.  But I didn't have a photo that fit the aesthetic of BWAB.  Aesthetic.  Cliche, I'm aware, but I happen to like everything looking cohesive within my content.  Thus, lead me to wear all of the mauve pink that I own in my closet, find a white wall and take a few pictures.  While I only went out to do a shoot with intentions of a cover image only, my brother ended up getting some good shots that I thought would make a lovely #ootd post.  Plus, I have yet to wear this dress is a post and it happens to be one of my favorites.

Slip dresses are a staple of mine in the summer.  They're so easy to wear and very much in trend right now.  I love a good slip to have some detailing on it; like the ruffles on the one I'm wearing.  Most slip dresses are long, straight and made out of a silky material, which is a good piece to layer over with sweaters, faux leather jackets and such.  But, when the temperatures are too high to incorporate layering into your ensemble, a more intricate slip dress is the perfect wardrobe staple for any summer look.
